Track Attack Double Points Race April 10th

What a great way to start off our season, 52 full track racers and 20 half trackers, we even put together a cruiser main.

Thanks to everyone for coming out and to all the volunteers for making our first race run smoothly.  We had a lot of happy kids heading home with treats and 7 happy winners of our Easter Bunny rider prizes.

Race results are posted and some half track pictures have been added to our picture galleries. Track points have also been updated.

Youth and Junior Development Camp April 6, 2012

It was a great day out at the track for the second Cycling BC Youth and Junior Development camp of the season. Selection for these teams is based on rider placing in the BC Cup Series and the BC Championship race, it is a great opportunity for young riders to be mentored by some of Canada's top riders. Coaches Mischa Partridge and James Palmer did a great job of teaching the kids how to race the track and it was amazing to see how fast some of the riders are going this early in the race season.

We have posted some pictures of the clinic, under the Pictures menu item.

The season has officially started!

Good turn out at gate practice tonight and the track is riding really smooth. The new gate ran without a hitch and is ready to go for our first race tomorrow night. Hope to see everyone out!

Ready to Race!

We are ready to race, thanks to the volunteers that braved the weather today. We managed to get the rocks cleaned up, worked on the track drainage, got the moto shed and concession ready, and more importantly-got the gate running.

Last year we were fortunate enough to receive financial assistance, through the Province of British Columbia's gaming grant program. Over the off-season we have been working hard on making safety improvements to the gate, which were made possible by this grant. After a lot of volunteer hours, the gate is running and only in need of some minor adjustments.

None of this would have been have been possible without the generous support of Westower Communications, who did the fabrication for us and the help of one of the original Ridge riders, Richard Humphries, who did much of the required welding. A big thank you to both of them!

Now let's hope that the weather co-operates so we can get our season going.

New Track Points Contest this Season

New this year at Ridge we will be having a monthly draw for 3 great rider prizes. So how do you go about winning? It's easy, just show up and race hard!
Each time you race you will receive one entry in the draw. If you win you will get 3 extra entries, come second you get 2 extra entries and if you come third you will get 1 extra entry. The more entries you get the better the chances of winning.
We will keep track of all your entries using a program that will draw three random riders from the entry list at the end of each month.
Please note that no rider can win more than one prize per month.

Racing Starts Next Week!

As long as the weather is cooperateve we will be practicing on Monday April 2nd and holding our first race of the season April 3rd.
To make our first races run smoother, please purchase or renew your license online at: https://reg.ccnbikes.com/licensing/cbc and print out the receipt to show at the moto shed.
A reminder for younger riders, there is a new Cycling BC rule for 2012. Riders aged 9 & under cannot wear clips ie they cannot clip in to their pedals. All riders in the 9 & under classes must race on pedals with no foot retention system. It is felt that the introduction of this rule will help all young riders develop proper riding skills and make racing in the younger classes more competitive.
